This past summer my band, Universal Royalty, was on tour in the UK for about 6 weeks. While touring, VQ, my brothers and I have gotten to play along side some very cool groups. TRANSITION, who hail from Bristol, England are one of the coolest. Todays “quick-fire questionnaire” is with Niall, the bands bassist. Let’s get into it.

CPM: How long has Transition been a band?
11 years

CPM: Hometown?
Bristol, England

CPM: Years playing your instrument?
Good question! I started when I was 8, so around 16 years. Man that’s scary!

CPM: Where have you played?
All over the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong and we’re booked to play in Singapore and Japan this year too!

CPM: “Must have” item when traveling?
Usually a guitar for gigs. I bought an old apple ibook last year so that goes with me a lot.

CPM: Favorite place you’ve played?
The Wall, Taipei (Taiwan).

CPM: Do you have a “worst show ever”?
Yes, in Bristol at a venue called The Fleece. I broke three strings, and didn’t have a spare guitar! Oh, that was a bad night.

CPM: Favorite band?
U2

CPM: Favorite song?
U2 – Where the streets have no name

CPM: Favorite Genre?
I suppose ‘Rock’, but I like so much different stuff from gypsy jazz to folk to electronic dance music. Generally, if it has a good melody I tend to like it.

CPM: Where would someone be able to buy your music?

Psalm 40: “I will sing a new song!”

CPM: Favorite Food?
My Mam’s roast dinner (very British answer I know, but it is awesome!)

CPM: Favorite Music/Artist?
I think some of my favorite artists are people we’ve met on the road. There’s a brilliant band from the States called Universal Royalty, who are some of the best people we’ve ever met! (CPM: He’s just trying to get on our good side…) We’ve toured in the UK with a great band called Superhero as well. There are so many, and their music means more to us because we get to know the people behind it!

CPM: Favorite Book?
The Bible, The Keith Green Story, and Lucky Man (autobiography of Michael J. Fox – love the Back to the Future trilogy!)
