Just as a side note, you can do most of these effects without all the ActionScript if you aren't that big into coding. You can apply filters manually to any MovieClip or text on the stage and then animate them in the timeline just like you would any other animation. Although that's not my style. And, it probably won't look as nice nor be dynamic during runtime, but it's an easy way to emulate the effect without the code. Thanks G, I will continue to do my best.
