How to Have a Heart – Illustrator Tutorial
Details, Details:

Now we’re going to make ourselves a little custom taper brush. Illustrator has a bunch of tapers already in their brush libraries, but this is probably a good thing to know how to do, so have a go at it. I find it easiest to start with a long black (for coloring purposes later) rectangle and then stretch out the center points of each end, like so.

Once you’re happy with your taper shape, select the shape and drag it onto your brushes panel.

Select New Art Brush from the New Brush window. In the Art Brush Options window you want to make sure the direction is set to either left or right and the colorization method is set to tints. The tints colorization method means that anything black in your brush will be changed to a 100% value of the line color you have selected, while anything more towards white will be a lesser value of the color.

Now select your custom taper brush and add some details to the end of the aorta, cava’s, arteries, and veins to give them a little depth.

You should do these designs for Anatomy and Medical textbooks… Of course they would all have to be anatomically correct!
I’m sorry, but I’m just starting out with Illustrator (went to art school for three years, they never showed us how to use a vector-based program, just Photoshop – and never the pen tool), and this is just too vague for me to figure out. Thanks anyway.
