ClickPopContest Reminder

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

dice2.jpg

Sawubona people. Just wanted to remind everyone that there’s only one more week to enter our first ever, super-fun-time contest. A quick rundown of the rules and guidelines are below.

Rules:

  1. Deadline is April 5th
  2. You can only use ClickPopMedia vectors and elements you personally create. In most cases, we really have no way to check this; so we’re on the honor system people.
  3. The composition can be either still or animated.
    • Send us stills as png’s or jpg’s.
    • Send us animations as either swf’s, or mov’s.
  4. The composition can be any size and shape. Use common sense with this rule. If you send us a 1px by 1px image, we probably won’t look at it. Likewise, if you send us a 100 ft by 100ft submission, it’s safe to say it won’t be considered.
  5. Send your submissions to design@clickpopmedia.com with your contact details.
  6. HAVE FUN.

We will be judging on hipness, coolness, mad skill level, and general breathtakingness.

The Prize:

The winner of this contest will receive a shiny pair of our custom ClickPopMedia dice (pictured in the header). These little beauties come in a beautiful transparent case complete with moocard. The winner can choose either a blue dice/black dice or a pink dice/black dice combination.

Disclaimer: By submitting to this contest, entrant grants ClickPopMedia the right to display entries on http://www.clickpopmedia.com.

Phont Reconstructs for the Homeless of Toronto

Phont Signs

Mark Daye from Phont Visual Communication has put together a really powerful campaign to raise the issue of homelessness in Toronto. He’s using de- and then reconstructed city street signs to get his message across.

Statement
The goal was to affect an urban population on an intimate level using graphic design.
Official Toronto city signs were deconstructed, then re-encoded with a subversive message that spoke about a less discussed and largely ignored urbal population, the homeless. The intent was to catch people off-guard by making the invisible visible through a respected and authorized medium. Official signs carry with them an authoritative voice put in place to inform behaviour. The question was, what if the authoritative voice spoke of a humanitarian issue? On how many levels can these
signs be read? – Mark Daye

The graffiti Gospel…It REALLY is good news.

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

This week, instead of doing some sort of graffiti tip, demonstration, or overview; I wanted to let you see the beauty of the art being “drawn out.” That way, you can see what writing graffiti is like. I didn’t have time do a piece, tape it and get VQ to edit it because we’re flying to England tonight. So, I started looking for some good footage online.

Gospel Graffiti - Billy Graham Video

In the beginning of my search to find just the right video, I had no idea that a one of this caliber was out there. In it, you’ll see the technicality of graffiti, all the while getting the Truth (his name is Jesus…). Check it out, and pay special attention to how the writers paint over and re-use sections that were previously painted. It’s solid. And props to the GG Crew for their impressive and blessed work.
