Statement
The goal was to affect an urban population on an intimate level using graphic design.
Official Toronto city signs were deconstructed, then re-encoded with a subversive message that spoke about a less discussed and largely ignored urbal population, the homeless. The intent was to catch people off-guard by making the invisible visible through a respected and authorized medium. Official signs carry with them an authoritative voice put in place to inform behaviour. The question was, what if the authoritative voice spoke of a humanitarian issue? On how many levels can these
signs be read? – Mark Daye

For quite some time now, Reid Rossi has been writing a hilarious off the wall blog called Ricky Spaniel’s Captain’s Log (full disclosure: Reid is VQ’s littlest brother). What first started as an outlet for the boy wunderkind to improve his reading and writing skills has become a really entertaining look into the mind of a crazy little eleven year old.

Today marks a tremendous milestone for the internet. Today, for the first time ever, Ricky Spaniel’s Captain’s Log releases a web video. The first video is an introduction to the man behind the blog. It is about a half hour of interview footage condensed down to it’s key points, and most touching moments.

The next video after the jump…

In the second video, Reid takes a little time to walk everyone through the beginnings of the Ricky Spaniel Saga. This video is classic example of the high budget epic movie epitomized by the Lord of the Ring’s trilogy, or the Chronicles of Narnia.

We hope you enjoyed this. We’re looking forward to more crazy antics every Friday.

Note: Feel free to comment the heck out of this post. Reid hates not getting comments, and you wouldn’t want to make him mad now, would you?GodBless:ClickPopMedia
